Jungle safari in nepal

Nepal is rich in lush green wild life. The tropical jungles of the Terai preserve some of the best wildlife habitat that can be found in Asia. Out of the total geographical area of Nepal , 16% is occupied by national parks, wildlife reserves and conservation areas. Jungle safaris on the back of an elephant are one of the most thrilling experiences in wildlife adventure. Parsa Wildlife Reserve, Royal Bardia National Park , Royal Chitwan National Park and the Royal Shukla Phanta wildlife reserve, offer jungle safaris on elephant back or jeep rides. The Terai region can get rather hot during the summer months and rather temperate during the winters. It is recommended that visitors carry cool clothes, good walking shoes, shady hats and sunscreen during the summer. The rainy season invites mosquitoes and leeches in the jungles. Mosquito repellant, anti-diarrhea tablets and anti-histamines can be handy during the summer and rainy months.

The parks here boasts of  various endangered species that include the great Asian one horned rhinoceros, the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger, the sloth bear, leopards, the spotted deer & numerous unique bird species that cover stork, geese, cormorants, egrets, the kingfishers, the Bengal florican & the famous Indian Pitta Parakeets that makes these wildlife jungles a paradise for bird lovers.

National Parks & Wildlife Reserves Nepal has nine National Parks, four Wildlife Reserves and three Conservation Area. About 15,000 square kilometers amounting to almost 18 percent of the total area is protected. This is an amazing commitment to conservation. The Terai lowlands are defined by a belt of well-watered floodplains stretching from the Indian border northward to the first slopes of the Bhabhar and the Siwalik Range. This is the richest habitat in the land with tall grasslands interspersed with riverine and hardwood Sal Forest. Here one can see wildlife such as the swamp deer, musk deer, black buck, blue bull, the Royal Bengal Tiger, gharial and marsh mugger crocodile and the last of a breed of Asiatic wild buffalo. Parks and Reserves are also rich in bird species with a variety of babbles and orioles, koels and drongos, peacocks and floricans, and a multitude of wintering wildfowl.
