Rolwaling Trek Itinerary : Option 1

Day 1: Drive Kathmandu to Charikot
Drive from Kathmandu (1350m.) to Dolakha (1660m.) via Lamosangu (750m.) and Charikot (1980m.) by bus. Overnight in camps.

Day 2: Drive from Dolakha to Shigati (950m.)
via Piguti (920m.) takes about three and half hours. The trails pass through a gravel road crossing different villages of mixed communities. You have to cross several streams and jungles with varieties of orchid, rhodendrons and other natural vegetation. Overnight camps.

Day 3: Trek from Shigati to Jagat (1440m.)
takes about seven hours. You trek through normal flat land along the side of the river. You pass through rice terraced. There are small villages on your way which are inhabited by mixed communities. Several times, you cross the jungles covered by orchid, a few rhododendron trees and wild vegetation. Now you cross a suspension bridge to reach Jagat, a small town with people of different cultural backgrounds. You camp for the night.

Day 4: Trek from Jagat to Simigaon (2020m.)
takes about seven and half hours. The first part of your trail follows normally flat path, then it passes through the jungle. At several places you cross through suspension bridges. There are numerous villages on your way. You can find small teashops and local shops at some of the places. You steeply climb up to Simigaon, a village inhabited by Buddhist and a few Hindus. We then camp for the night.

Day 5: Trek from Simigaon to Daldung La (3976m.)
takes about seven hours. On the route you come across the Sherpa villages. The uphill trek covers regions with varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. After the uphill trek you will now come across paths through which you will enjoy the scenic beauty of the place. Camp for the night

Day 6: Trek from Daldung La to Beding (3690m.)
takes about seven and half hours. The trek now ascends uphill through forest with different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. You trek over the suspension bridges over looking deep gorges in a few places making the trek even more enchanting. You finally reach Beding which is a big Sherpa village. Camp for the night.

Day 7: Rest day at Beding for acclimatization.
You can hike in and around for acclimatization and have panoramic views of mountains like Mt. Gauri Shanker, and Tibetan mountains across the Tibetan border. Camp for the night.

Day 8: Trek from Beding to Na (4180m.)
takes about four hours. This day you can explore the upper slopes of the valley for Snow Partridge or a visit to the nearby glacier lake. The trek path slightly ascends along the river bank. The place is an open path with fresh air and we hear the charming sounds of the gushing river. You can have panoramic views of the mountains as the trek moves forward. You will also come across a Sherpa village having their own specialties. We camp for the night

Day 9: Rest Day at Na in preparation for Ramdung Go (5930m.).
You will be able to witness the various views of mountains like Gauri Shanker, Menlung, Yalung and the mountains of Tibet. You will be on a Yalung Glacier camp today. Camp for the night.

Day 10: Trek from Na to Tso Rolpa Lake (4540m.) You will be trekking through a flat and gradually upper path. You will be able to witness the beautiful Natural Lake filled with the chilling water of the glaciers. The views of Menlung and the Tibetan Side of Mountains add glory to your trek. Camp for the night.

Day 11: Trek Tso Rolpa to Trakarding Glacier (4800m.)
Early morning you will walk across the glaciers throughout the day and will be able to experience new enchanting beauties of nature that would add extra dimensions to your hike. You camp for the night.

Day 12: Trek from Trakarding Glacier to Tashi Lapcha Pedi Camp (5755m.)
The trail will still be ascending through some rock climbing and a gradual walk on the glacier. You will camp in the Tashi Lapcha Pedi camp today.

Day 13: Climb from Tashi Lapcha Pedi to Tashi Lapcha Pass (5755m.) to Tashi Cape. You will climb up the Tashi Lapcha Pedi and cross the Tashi Lapcha Pass through Tashi Cape. You trek through a snow covered route. You camp for the night.

Day 14: Trek from Tashi Cape to Thyomgbo (4350m.) Today you will walk across the glacier. The trail descends down towards Thyomgbo. We then camp for the nigh

Day 15: Trek Thyomgbo to Thame (3820m.)
Early morning you will trek down to Thame. This trail gradually descends and you trek an easier trail and will be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the environment. Camp for the night.

Day 16: Trek from Thame to Namche Bazaar (3440m.)
The trail descends gently for an early one hour to Sanasa (3550m.). Now you can catch a glimpse of the majestic peaks of the Khumbu including Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Passing by several villages and numerous teashops, the trail descends steeply to a bridge over the river Dudh Koshi at Phunki Tenga (3250m, the way from Sanasa to Namche is uneven with views of forests, splendid scenery and stunning mountains.

Day 17: Trek from Thame to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) takes about six hours.
The last day of your trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for a few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River, crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla for your overnight stay. You camp for the night.

Day 18: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu.
You take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes.
