Kathmandu is home to most of the government offices, embassies, corporate houses, and palaces. The old palace of the Newar kings at Durbar Square is listed as UNESCO world heritage site. Nearby is Freak Street, which was the popular hippie spot during the 1970s. The former Shah King's Palace stands just east of Thamel - the tourist hub of the country. It consists of two parallel streets catering to tourists with shops, restaurants and little hotels. The palace is at the northern end of Durbar Marg, a major street lined with various shops and larger hotels. The "old" city is noted for its many Buddhist and Hindu temples and palaces, most dating to the 17th century. Many of these landmarks have been damaged by earthquakes and pollution. Kathmandu has two important Buddhist stupas, Swayambhunath and Boudhanath and a famous Hindu shrine, Pashupatinath temple. Since 2003 the sites have been added to the World Heritage List as being "in danger" out of concern for the ongoing loss of authenticity and the outstanding universal value of the cultural property.

A visit to Nepal remains incomplete without seeing the beauty of the Terai. One of the most traditional and conservative indigenous nationalities of Nepal, the Chepangs live in Chitwan. They have their own distinct language, which belongs to one of the Tibeto-Burman strains. Chepangs are mostly hunters and gatherers. They are animists and their clan priests are called Pandes. It is felt that their religion and culture are influenced by the Tamangs. One of Asia’s finest national parks, renowned for its dense concentration of wildlife. Seas of elephant grass ripple beneath a magnificent sunset & pervasive sense of relaxation soaks in deeper the longer you stay. For a country known for its beautiful mountains, the Gangetic flat lands of the Terai that stretches through out the southern part of Nepal provide a whole different experience.

Chitwan is only 150m above the sea level. The place gets steamy from March-June, with peak temperatures reaching 43°C in the shade. Short grass makes Feb-May the best game-viewing season, but the autumn months are gorgeous, with Himalayan views, and in winter (December-January), Chitwan is pleasantly warm compared to Kathmandu. The monsoon season (July-August) is intense, with pounding rain, swollen rivers, and vegetation. While the rain is not constant, the humidity is all pervasive.

Pokhara at an elevation of 900 m. & 200kms west of Kathmandu, is the largest valley in Nepal. A scenic mountain side drive approximate 5/6 hours or a half hour picturesque flight will get you to This valley. Famous for its lakes and views of the magnificent Himalayan Peaks, this visit is recommended for those who would really like to break away as they go boating in the calm and serene waters of the Phewa Lake, or take day hikes in nearby hills and if time permits short treks into the Himalaya.

Pokhara is an extraordinary landscape and one of the most attractive destinations in Nepal. The treasures of Pokhara include the tranquility of Phewa Lake, spectacular views of Annapurna Himalayan range and Mount Machhapuchhare (6,977 m), luscious green hills, terraced farm slopes, countless species of vegetation, rushing rivers in a tropical-like environment. Pokhara is, since ancient times, the traditional export center for trade with India and Tibet
